Variations of 7 Card Stud
There are many forms of 7 Card Stud variations that players can play to expand on the normal standard game, by simply adding additional rules, cards and wild cards.
- Eight Card Stud: In this variation of 7 card stud the game uses 8 cards instead of 7. The last two cards (the river) dealt are face down.
- Lowest Hole Card is Wild: In this game the wild card in each players is the lowest of the hole cards. As well as all of the other cards in his hand that is at the same rank. In some of the versions, the last card is dealt face down. In some version the player may turn up one of his hole cards or take the last card as his face up wild card.
- Four-Four-Four: This stud poker game has four cards dealt face down, four cards dealt face up, and fours are wild cards. Three cards are dealt with the face down first, with the betting starting after the first card is dealt face up. The rest of the cards, except one are dealt face up with the final card dealt face down.
- Three-Three-Three: This game is played the same as Four-Four-Four, except that there is three cards dealt face down, three cards are dealt face up and the threes are wild. In this game two cards are dealt face down first, and the last card is also face down.
- Follow the Queen: In this game the wild cards change throughout the game. The card after a first Queen that is dealt face up is wild. If the dealer deals another Queen face up, the card that follows will be wild, and then if any other cards are dealt the wild cards will go back to the original card. Should the last face of card is a queen; another card is dealt and placed in the middle of your table. The remaining cards of the similar rank are also wild. So if the five is dealt on this table, then all of the fives will be wild.
- Cowpie Poker: If you play this game, you will find that the players will make the same kinds of bets and the same dealing pattern as the normal game of 7 card stud. After the final round of betting the players will then break their hands into a hand of five cards and a hand of two cards. The two cards must contain a down card and the five cards have to be of higher rank than these two cards. After each player assembles and separates their two hands and their five hands, the pot will be split with the highest 5 card hand and the highest 2 card hand.
- Harem: This card follows the same 7 Card sequence during the deal. In this game the Jacks and the Kings are wild, however if the player gets a Queen, it makes all of the Kings and Jacks null. If the player gets a least three of the Queens he will have a Harem and be the automatic winner. If no one has a Harem, the highest hand on the table will be the winner.
